Nursing Resource Guide

This is the guide that you will be using for your Nursing courses here at SUNY Delhi. Here you will find information on specific courses, general information about searching for and using library resources.

Search terms to try

  • Check out the "General Search Tips" tab to learn about truncation, which gives you different variations on a word with one search term. Examples for this assignment might be teen* (gives you teen, teens, teenagers) or elder* (gives you elder, elders, elderly)
  • Think about different names for your age group/developmental stage and enter these in the search box with the word "or" between them. Examples: teen* or adolescen*; child* or pediatric*; elder* or geriatric* or older
  • One of the tricky aspects of this assignment is separating articles that are about that age group facing their own death vs. articles about that age group dealing with the loss of a loved one. Try adding "terminally ill" for searches about those preparing for their own deaths or phrases like "loss of parent" or "loss of child" for articles about coping with the loss of someone else.
