This assignment asks you to look at the work of a nursing theory and its theorist. The e-books below are great places to find biographical information for your chosen theorist, and many of them also include good overviews of each theory.
Some of these theories/models are easier to search for than others, so if you're having difficulty, please don't hesitate to get some assistance from a librarian. Take a look at the contact information and the chat box on the right side of this page.
These e-books address many of the theories and theorists you are working with for this assignment. Click on "Search within" or "Search this title" on the top left to search for your particular theorist in each book.
Start your search in CINAHL, because it's a nursing-specific search tool.
First, click on "Advanced Search" under the main search box. This opens three search boxes instead of one, and changes the "Search Options" lower on the page. Next, look for the "Research Article" checkbox, in the area where you find the publication date limiters and the "Peer Reviewed" checkbox:

Checking this box while searching for the name of a theorist/theory/model will limit your search to articles where the theory was applied, eliminating articles about the theorist's life, editorials, etc.
Some theorists will have more information in CINAHL than others. If you don't find enough results in CINAHL, try MILO instead.
Use quotation marks. Putting quotes around a phrase tells a database to search for that exact phrase.
So, it may be helpful to search for the name of your theory/model in quotes. For example, searching
"novice to expert model"
should bring up articles that refer to Patricia Benner's work, where searching without the quotation marks could bring up articles that use the word "expert," or "model," but not necessarily that exact phrase.
Quotation marks can also be helpful if your theorist has a common last name, for example:
"jean watson"
"imogene king"
HOWEVER, relevant articles may not refer to these theorists by both their first and last names, and the quotation marks would eliminate those articles from your results. Try searching both with and without the quotation marks, to be sure.
