This page has links and some examples for tools and resources that you can request from librarians, such as LibGuides and library instruction. You can check out the resources in each of the sections, or feel free to contact your subject liaison if you have more questions.
If you would like to request an item be placed on reserve in the library for your students, please fill out the Reserve Book Request Form. Please be aware that this request will average three (3) business days once it has been received. You can request a book that the library owns to be placed on reserve; however, if the item is not owned by the library, it must be provided by the faculty member requesting it.
What's a LibGuide?
A LibGuide is a customized webpage created by a librarian to provide a centralized place for students to access resources for a particular assignment, course, or subject area. LibGuides are a great way to supplement the content you provide in your Online Delhi courses to support a research assignment, but the platform is very flexible and can be used in many different ways.
If you would like a LibGuide for your course or for a particular assignment, send your liaison Librarian an email. Because the platform is so flexible, the librarian working with you will need to know what you are hoping to see in your guide, and copies of assignment descriptions are usually helpful. The amount of time needed to create a guide varies widely, but generally we request a minimum of 2 weeks, although we will work with you to create a timeline and what you want to see on the page.
Take a look at some of the examples below - they differ depending on the needs of the course and/or instructor! You'll see some that cover all the assignments in a course, and others that provide general research support that applies to all assignments. Some are broken down in a way that reflects the research process for a particular assignment, while others reflect the great variety of choices students are sometimes given.
Specialized instruction for classes can be requested from the Librarians. Library instruction is designed to introduce students to effective strategies for conducting research and using information sources, with a focus on using Delhi's print and electronic resources. Librarian's have found that the students respond best when there is a targeted and well-developed assignment attached to the session. Library orientation works best for courses such as UNIV100, or as a basic introduction prior to a second session with a research component.
