Death and Dying Research (Eck, ALHT 304): Find Articles

About this page

You can use the tools on this page to find articles and other sources for any of your assignments in this class.

For specific tips and suggested search terms for each assignment, visit the tab for that assignment in this guide.

Notes on search terms

Each tab will suggest specific search terms to try for that assignment, but here's a tip that you should keep in mind for any search.

Think about different forms of any given word: bereave, bereavement, bereaved... if any of these showed up in an article, it would probably be on-topic. To search all of those forms at once without typing each word in, use an asterisk as shown here:

Searching bereave* gives you all of those forms in your search results. It's worth noting that you don't have to place the asterisk after a complete word, like in this example:

The asterisk searches any word that starts with the letters before the asterisk. This strategy is called truncation and it can be really helpful for improving your search results.

Search CINAHL

As with many other nursing courses, CINAHL is the best place to start for nearly all of these assignments. This search box is set up to bring you ONLY peer-reviewed articles.

Search MILO

The MILO search box below searches articles, e-books, and other kinds of sources all at once. Because information about these topics may appear in psychology or social sciences databases (in addition to nursing databases), you may wish to broaden your search by using MILO, which is not subject-specific.
