Library Policies: Community Borrowers

This guide contains many of the Resnick Library's policies for students, faculty, and staff.

Resnick Library Community Borrower Policy

The Resnick Library primarily serves to meet the needs of the students, faculty, administrators, and staff of SUNY Delhi. Members of the community who are unaffiliated with the College are welcome to visit and use the library facilities and materials for research and educational purposes. The library reserves the right to turn away solicitors or visitors who are not using the library for education or research purposes or for disrupting patrons. Anyone who enters the Resnick Library must abide by the campus Code of Conduct, as well as State and Federal laws.

Computer users must follow University guidelines, and receive guest login privileges from the Computer Information Systems (CIS) office. No restrictions are placed upon internet use, however patrons are expected to use computer resources responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with relevant laws and in compliance with the University policies. Access to library databases and resources is available while using the library’s computer terminals on campus. Priority of use for computers is given to SUNY Delhi students. In times of peak demand community patrons may be asked to yield a work station to a student as educational use will take precedence.

If you bring your own device, you may request a temporary guest Wi-Fi password from the library desk.

Visitors under the age of 17 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian, in accordance with the SUNY Child Protection Policy.

Community borrower cards may be issued to those patrons who live within Delaware County or the counties which most closely surround the community of Delhi (Otsego, Sullivan, or Ulster). A current state issued driver’s license or I.D. must be presented to register for a community borrower card, if the ID does not show an address within the community counties a piece of mail with a local address will also be needed. With this card patrons may check out physical items from the Resnick Library collection. Services that are not available to community borrowers include accessing electronic materials from off-campus, holds & recall of materials checked out by others, and interlibrary loan requests.

Community patrons may purchase a print card if they wish to print using the Resnick Library printers. These cards can be purchased at the library desk. Each card costs $1 and is re-fillable through the CADI Office, the cards are available in $1 and $5 denominations for printing (making the final cost $2 or $6 per card).

Community borrower services and access may be limited during final exams and other periods of increased use, and during College breaks by the SUNY Delhi community.
