Reference List: APA Basic Rules
References & Citations:
- Reference page is the last page after the body of text
- The word 'references' will be at the top of the page and centered
- Double spaced
- Alphabetical order by last name of author/organizational author
- Hanging indentation
- ex.: Deagan, K. (2004). Reconsidering Taíno social dynamics after Spanish conquest: Gender and class in culture contact studies. American Antiquity, 69(4), 597–626. https://doi.org/10.2307/4128440
- Citation format is usually as follows for peer reviewed articles/journals:
- Last Name, First Initial (Middle Initial if applicable)
- Year of Publication
- Title of Article
- Capitalize first word in article title as well as any word that is after a colon (:) or a dash (-), and proper nouns
- Do not put quotations around the article title
- Title of Journal
- Italicized
- Capitalize all major words
- Volume/edition
- Page Numbers
- Use p. if only citing one page (in-text citation)
- Use pp. if citing a range of pages (in-text citation)
- DOI (if applicable)
